AM ONLY A YOUTH

The topic for our study this night is: Am Only a Youth and we will be reading from the book of Judges chapter 8 starting from 10-12 then to verse 18-21. May the lord grant us understanding.

Judges 8:10 Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor, and their hosts with them, about fifteen thousand men, all that were left of all the hosts of the children of the east: for there fell an hundred and twenty thousand men that drew sword.

8:11 And Gideon went up by the way of them that dwelt in tents on the east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and smote the host: for the host was secure. 8:12 And when Zebah and Zalmunna fled, he pursued after them, and took the two kings of Midian, Zebah and Zalmunna, and discomfited all the host.

8:18 Then said he unto Zebah and Zalmunna, What manner of men were they whom ye slew at Tabor? And they answered, As thou art, so were they; each one resembled the children of a king. 8:19 And he said, They were my brethren, even the sons of my mother: as the LORD liveth, if ye had saved them alive, I would not slay you. 8:20 And he said unto Jether his firstborn, Up, and slay them. But the youth drew not his sword: for he feared, because he was yet a youth. 8:21 Then Zebah and Zalmunna said, Rise thou, and fall upon us: for as the man is, so is his strength. And Gideon arose, and slew Zebah and Zalmunna, and took away the ornaments that were on their camels’ necks.

We saw the exploits been wrought by this man called Gideon but looking at verse 20. Gideon told his first son to rise and slay the captured kings, you know even though they are kings, yet we saw that they are captured and his father was commanding him to rise up and slay them but the son couldn’t withdrew his sword because he feared and because he was only a youth.

Am beginning to ponder that will his father ask him to do something that he cannot do. Will he ask him to do something that doesn’t pertain to his life and destiny at all?
I saw that Gideon was announcing his agenda over his son, to position him in that which he must grow into. He is introducing to him an opportunity to have a heart that does what God does. Introducing him to opportunity to destroy the enemy. It’s not as if Gideon can’t slay by himself but he is saying my first child is my strength! He is saying my son should be able to carry on the burden of the deliverance of God’s people even when am no more.

He is introducing to him an opportunity to grow the correct heart disposition to matter in the plan of God for him. But no. He was not able to meet the agenda of heaven over his life And I can see that the opportunity he missed ended up becoming his lifestyle. He became a mediocre. He died as a mediocrity and caused his own generation to be wiped out except Jotham that escaped.

He missed his moment of divine preparation.
And even for our own lives now, heaven is saying: rise up even now for battle. Generations are waiting for your manifestation. Lives are depending on you for survival. Heaven Is saying that the destinies of men are tied to your rising and their deliverance is at stake if u tarry.
Heaven is saying: the deliverance you win at this age will give you proper footing, leverage to be able to function now and in the expectation of God for tomorrow. Your wise choices of today will brighten your chances for tomorrow. But we saw that something went wrong with Jether’s heart that he couldn’t perform.

Am asking you now that what is the internal makeup of your own heart? Once their is deficiency or weakness in your life, even you will not be able to perform.
Now that heaven is focusing on you and preparing you and bringing opportunity to be trained and to grow the correct heart. You can’t afford to miss it.

Unless heaven prepares you,you will fail when time comes for you to perform.
Are u taking the dealings of God over your life serious or you are taking it with levity? Fellow ambassadors. Their Is a time to grow and a time to live! A time is coming and even here when men will begin to look at you and ask that what have you become? They will be asking that have you also grown to add to our misery or to bring deliverance and satisfaction to our weary souls???

I pray that we will not miss that which determine destinies of men because of negligence.

Now their is something that constitute internal weakness and fear in a man’s heart.

Let’s look at another youth. 1Samuel 17 but for our time we will be taking particular verses but the whole chapter is about this youth.

Verse 20-40. You need to see the heart of David, his personal and secret victories and how he has known God to be able to stand for him.

Please read with understanding.

1 Samuel 17:20 And David rose up early in the morning, and left the sheep with a keeper, and took, and went, as Jesse had commanded him; and he came to the trench, as the host was going forth to the fight, and shouted for the battle. 17:21 For Israel and the Philistines had put the battle in array, army against army. 17:22 And David left his carriage in the hand of the keeper of the carriage, and ran into the army, and came and saluted his brethren. 17:23 And as he talked with them, behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, out of the armies of the Philistines, and spake according to the same words: and David heard them. 17:24 And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him, and were sore afraid. 17:25 And the men of Israel said, Have ye seen this man that is come up? surely to defy Israel is he come up: and it shall be, that the man who killeth him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father’s house free in Israel. 17:26 And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God? 17:27 And the people answered him after this manner, saying, So shall it be done to the man that killeth him. 17:28 And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab’s anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle. 17:29 And David said, What have I now done? Is there not a cause? 17:30 And he turned from him toward another, and spake after the same manner: and the people answered him again after the former manner. 17:31 And when the words were heard which David spake, they rehearsed them before Saul: and he sent for him. 17:32 And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine. 17:33 And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth. 17:34 And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: 17:35 And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him. 17:36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God. 17:37 David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee. 17:38 And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail. 17:39 And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him. 17:40 And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.

I saw something particularly in verse 33,Saul said you can’t go against this Philistine because you as you are, you are only but a youth, and this man you are seeing ooo is a man of war from his youth. Hmmm. see something fa,he is telling him, don’t get engaged with this because it isn’t the battle meant for youths, maybe something is telling you too that you are just a youth jare, don’t get too serious with God and your destiny.

And at the same time he is telling him that this same Goliath is a man of war right from his youth days.see again that the devil is not afraid to begin to use a man for exploits even from youth age but we think that our youth should be used for peripherals, mundane things, we think if am too serious now, people will give me names and they will say your own is too much but not a David. David choose to be different amidst all others.

Saul was trying to counsel him that this battle is not for youths like you but I see that David cannot be persuaded. David said don’t let your heart fail because of this giant, and he began to roll out the experience of past victories, exploits and he said this giant is going to be like one of them because he has defied the armies of the living God. A man with a correct heart..
Something on the inside of him told him that this giant is defying the same God you serve. will you now be quiet? David knew God all the way and he knows that the same God will deliver him even in this battle. Can u see that? Can you see that he was going for the Lord?? He was conscious of the presence of his maker. Aren’t you afraid because you don’t know the greater one on the inside of you??

And you should also note that he went with weapons that he has tested and proved. That man has been through a dealing,so he knows the best weapons that will do exploits at the time. How about you????

Daniel 11 verse 32 is telling us that it’s those that know their God that will do exploits. The strength in David is flowing from a knowledge of God that he has.
What is making you to appear as a youth that can’t do exploits for God. It’s not about age,it’s your inner man!

You see the devil busy harnessing his own army and you see them doing exploits but why do u choose to be silent and even unserious with God that can make you to become a mighty man?

See people that have taken position for the devil, even you before you were saved, you know the exploits you were doing for the devil.
Daniel 11:32 And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.
Before I got saved, I was a professional cheater,I have one handwriting then that if I write on a paper you might not see it and that’s how I do write on my exam cards to promote my agenda and cheat in the exam. I do abuse the gifts of God and encourage others and even teach them how to be bold about it.

I was having the zeal to read the word and use it to win quiz though I don’t like some words that are rebuking me then but at least I will read to pass quiz. So what is my excuse now that am saved that I won’t be able to do greater exploits. We have the holy spirit, wisdom, understanding and all heavens resources. Why will we choose to be negligent. It’s an indication that something is wrong.

I pray that every postponement to stand for God as a result of fear is nullified in Jesus name. Amen.

We then saw the fear in Jether’s heart is not because he is a youth but his internal makeup.

Let’s look at Eccl 10:16.

Ecclesiastes 10:16 Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning!
Why is it a woe to a land that it Is the child that is a king?

One of the terrible indices is that they eat in the morning.
Let me first say that you are in the morning of your life and even some are beginning to enter their day.

Now when you don’t realize the right things to be done in your morning, you are already exhibiting a sense of childishness.
The morning is a time of freshness and making crucial decisions. A time of labour, gathering, building and not a time of being controlled by unbridled appetites.
It’s a woe to a land that the king( the one the whole land is looking up to) being ruled by appetites that are inconsequential to his mandate.

What will make you that God is positioning for leadership and exploits to end up a mediocre is that you have allowed wrong appetites to consume you in your morning.
Appetites for food, immortality, sinful entertainment, sinful pleasure. Appetite for feasting, Merry making, laziness, slothfulness.

Can u talk to God,maybe yours is laziness or slothfulness. Maybe you just want to grow up delicately that you don’t want anything to ruffle or inconvenient you. You don’t want to pay any price. You want things to be automatic. Please talk to God. I can see my own already.

Unbridled appetites are wasters of destiny.

Whatever God is announcing over your life, their is something that will cut you short, something that will weaken you and make you unable to perform. It’s sin. You know Jether couldn’t perform with the sword in his hand. He missed something. Check your life too. Don’t assume anything!
It’s a child mentality to feast in the morning, a child mentality to be unserious in the morning. Not taking responsibility.
You may not be a child in age but how about your heart??

How is this season of your life? What are the appetites that will not let you be? If you wouldn’t let God deal with them this night, they will cause internal weakness and it will affect your strength!

Don’t allow wrong appetites destroy you. Appetite for ease, empty show and empty things!
I want us to beg God that whatsoever nature of appetite that is holding us captive, God should terminate it this night.

The problem is that its wasting your time of the morning that should be used to get strength.

Hope we are talking to God in our hearts and with our mouth?

My life is not excluded my father, please search thoroughly and see the things that will not allow me fulfill that which is written over my head🙏🙏

You need to read through 1timothy 4:12 and see that their are things to take care of in order for your youth age not to be despised.

Their is a way to order your life and you will be a youth with honour.

1timothy 4:12
1 Timothy 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

Don’t allow mediocrity to smell round you. Don’t settle for the less.
You need to read that first Timothy chapter 4 verse twelve and meditate on it personally. Please do that.

Reading from book of Luke 2 verse 40 and 52. You see the way Jesus grew and you are to learn from him. I pray that we will be helped by God and that we will not fail his expectation over our lives in Jesus name. Amen.

Luke 2 verse 40 and 52
Luke 2:40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. 2:52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.
Shall we respond to God in prayers. Please talk with God and tell him to deal with all form of wrong appetites.

Tell him to also bring all the life victuals to reinforce your inner man. so you can wax strong for what He is announcing over your life. Lord please help and prepare me oooo😭😭

Please read that for your own life.
