Brethren this evening I will be speaking on the topic GRACE
The main scripture is Romans chapter 6. The whole chapter.
Grace Is an unmerited favour of God. It is an undeserved privilege given to us by someone. We do not deserve it yet we got access to it. It is by the grace of God that we are alive today. It is also by the grace of God that we are being saved. Now everything that we are and have is by the grace of God. It is not by our power, might, human intellect, skills, knowledge or even capabilities. It is by the Grace of God.
The grace of God encompasses every aspect of our lives such that there is nothing that does not involve the grace of God.It is the grace of God that sustains us day and night.

Brethren there are certain things we tend to take casual or should I say overlook in our generation.
They are called LUCK, FATE, & COINCIDENCE. As simple as this words may be, we tend to view things from the perspective of luck and fate.
Whatever happens in our lives we tend to attribute it to coincidence, not knowing that everything that happens in our lives is ordained and planned by God. Most of the times I hear many people especially Christians use these terms in situations that look amazing, favourable and exceptional (things that naturally can’t be explained) I marvel. I believe very strongly that for a child of God, there is No such thing as Luck, fate, and coincidence because everything in life has been planned and arranged by God. God knows everything before it happens. The past, the present and the future.

Everything that happens in your life is as a result of the grace of God. So to me these words are earthly terms used by many to describe things beyond their imaginations.
But for a true believer, everything that happens is by the grace Of God.

Now back to this brethren. As I was meditating on this passage. The Lord began to draw my attention to few things which I feel we must take note of
There are certain words that are being emphasize repeatedly here which we must not ignore
👉🏿 SIN

SIN: Now I wouldn’t want to be too theoretical and abstract with regards to this, thus giving a description or quantifying what this is. Since we already know what sin is and we know the mind of God concerning this. I will like us to define this biblically.

Now anything you do that is contrary to God and is not in the nature of God is SIN. In other words, if your life, action and everything about you is not in conformity to His laid down principles then you are living in Sin. God is a holy God, He is too holy to behold sin.
Sin defiles a man and hinders a lot of spiritual blessings and opportunities. At a point in time, we were all simners. It was by the grace of God that we were saved.
Now the second word.

SLAVE: A slave is a servant to someone or somebody. He takes instruction from his subordinate and is answerable and subject to His Master. The Bible Says We were once slaves to sin. The devil was our master and sin was the major tool controlling us. We followed every directive given to us by Mr Flesh. We were controlled by Mr Flesh. We had no choice than to follow its desires and craving. We were delivered by the Grace of God. It is by this same grace that we have been set free from the power of sin and death.

Another word which has appeared many times in that scripture is:

Human Nature (Self): The Human nature is hostile to the things of God. The very nature which was in us was responsible for our fall, it is also by the grace of God that Mr. Flesh has been destroyed.

Death: came in as a result of Sin. The Bible says for the wages of sin is death. However, Christ conquered and broke the power of sin and death.
Having given a background to the issue on Grace. What the grace of God has done for us? This is what we will be looking at now

1. Salvation: this is the saving of a person’s soul from sin and its consequences. We were saved through the death & resurrection of Christ. This is an act of grace, kindness and love for sinners. The only means of being right with God is through Salvation. No Human effort can contribute to salvation. It is a free gift of God and it is received only by faith in Christ Jesus. No one can take credit for his or her salvation. It is only by grace that we are saved.

2. Redemption: Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us Galatians 3:13.
It was through Christ that we were set free. Christ bore our sins thus becoming a curse for us and nailed everything to the cross. He redeemed us from condemnation.

3. Justification: The believer in Christ is no longer condemned but justified and glorified according to Gods plans. Therefore, there is no charge against the believer because God has already declared them Not guilty. This was what Jesus did for us when he went to Calvary. By his death we gave been justified.

4. Reconciliation: To reconcile is to put an end to hostility between two persons and to start a good relationship again. This was what Christ did for us. We have been reconciled to God through Christ Death and resurrection.

5. Chosen in Christ: God chose Israel out of the people of the earth to be his treasured possession. In our generation today God has chosen you and I as believers to be a people to his praises and glory.

6. Forgiveness of Sins: by the grace of God our sins were forgiven. Ephesians 1:7.

What the grace of God means for us as believers?
1. No deliberate sinning
It is so unfortunate that many Christians in our time hide under the grace era to indulge in Sin. Claiming that we are not under law but in a period of Grace. Now apostle Paul says in Romans, Should we continue to Sin that the grace of God should abound? Brethren! The grace of God should not be a license to indulge in Sin rather we should strive the more to live holy lives. Brethren I fear so much for the coming generation. Because immorality and carnality is on the increase. So many churches in every street, we are very religious. In Nigeria we are among the blessed nations that has been impacted By Christianity. Yet we rank the highest corrupt Country. What a contradiction!
We must not misuse the grace God has given unto us because a time is coming when this grace will no longer be there.

2. Redeeming The Time. Ephesians 5:15
Be very careful then how you live not as unwise but as wise making the most of every opportunity because the days are evil. Brethren, this is a time we need to wake up from our slumber. As Christians we have been sleeping and we have tarried for too long. We have slept so much. No wonder the devil has occupied and taken over the lives of our youths and even infiltrated the church today. We must make use of the grace of God to redeem the time. The days are evil brethren.
May the Lord help us not to take his grace For granted In Jesus name. Amen!

In Conclusion brethren, the grace of God Teaches us to be disciplined and to say no to all temptations. Whatever situation you are facing or going through, God said to Paul “My Grace is sufficient for you” The same way God is telling you tonight, My Grace is sufficient for you.

May the Lord help us and may His grace continuously be with us in all circumstances in Jesus name… Amen!
God bless us all
