Why True Leaders Aren’t PLEADERS?


While, it is incumbent upon, an effective leader, to, be ready, willing, and able to effectively urge his stakeholders, to do, what he believes, is the best path to follow, and course of action, that is much different from begging them, to do something! Effective, meaningful leadership is not about, being popular, or accepted, but, rather about, proceeding, in a focused manner, directed by the necessary objectives, priorities, goals, and perceptions, of the organization, and constituents. Quality leaders urge and direct, but are never, PLEADERS! With that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, what this means, and represents, and is such an important, essential consideration, and focus.

  1. Priorities; perceptions; promises: Leading means emphasizing the true priorities of the group, and, showing you deserve, to be considered, a leader! One must also understand, and address his stakeholders’ perceptions, in a forward – looking, solutions – based, approach! Instead of making empty promises, and using rhetoric, a true leader examines the options, and is willing, to step forth, and do, the right thing, as well as, what’s needed, and necessary!

  2. Listen; learn; leading: Although, one may have a well – developed, skill – set, he still must commit, to effectively listening, and learning, from every conversation, and experience, and leading others, towards a meeting – of – the – minds, for the common good~

  3. Empathy; emphasis: Learning, caring, and prioritizing, those one serves, and represents, must bring forth, the utmost, genuine empathy! This should direct, a leader’s primary emphasis, and how he articulates it!

  4. Attitude; aptitude; attention; articulate: Great leaders maintain a true, positive, can- do, attitude, and combine that with a relevant, well – considered, and developed aptitude, and skill – set! When this is done, from the onset, and he pays keen attention, and is ready, willing, and able to articulate, a compelling, motivating, inspiring message, one begins behaving, as a leader!

  5. Delve deeply; deliver: Go beyond the surface, and delve deeply, into what’s needed, and the best options to consider. When one is prepared, and fit, he transforms this process, to delivering, the leadership, groups need, and deserve!

  6. Endurance; excellence: If you’re fit, to lead, you must maintain the endurance, especially during challenging times, to avoid compromising, and demand your utmost degree of genuine, personal excellence!

  7. Rationale/ reasoning; responsive; relevant: Examine your rationale, and the focus of your reasoning, and see, if it’s truly responsive to your group’s needs, and priorities, and relevant!

  8. Service; solutions; system; sustainable: If you don’t, consistently, provide the utmost service, focused on viable solutions, and go forward, perceiving and conceiving of, creating, and implementing the best possible system, your leadership will lack genuine meaning, nor be, sustainable!

True leaders are never PLEADERS! They articulate messages, based on needs, priorities, and goals, and introduce compelling, viable solutions!
